Verse: ‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬-‭12‬ ‭

“"And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."”

Devotion
This is a pretty heavy passage! There's a lot in here, but one thing I'd like to pull out. God will be with you when you speak up for him.

I know it can be super intimidating to share your faith, to offer to pray for someone, or even just to serve someone out of the overflow of your faith in Jesus. It can feel vulnerable, exposed, and lonely. But Jesus promises to be with you. His Spirit will help you with words to say at the right time.

Sometimes we feel like we need to know the whole Bible, and be ready for any question, before we can share our faith with others. I think this is untrue. I think there is power in sharing your faith even when you are still working it out. I think people will appreciate the authenticity of you saying, "this has changed my life but I still don't have all the answers." If someone asks you something you don't know, big deal! Go ask a mentor or an older Christian and get back to them.

More than having all the answers, what people want is you to be real and in those moments, God can speak through you. He can give you a short word of encouragement, or an idea, or a prayer, or even a prophetic insight that can deeply encourage someone and draw them closer to Jesus.

So next time you have a chance to share your faith, relax! God is with you!
