Simple Gospel

Verse: 2 Timothy 2:8-10

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

Devotion:
"Remeber Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel."

Boom.

Sometimes we need to remember the simple gospel. The simple message of the Good News. Does it get more complicated? Sure. Are there things we can debate? Sure. But sometimes, like Paul, you just need to come back to the basics.

Jesus was raised from the dead. This is my gospel. The Greek word we translate "gospel" means good news that is proclaimed. My good news, that sustains my life through hard times, that gives me purpose, is that Jesus was raised from the dead.

Today maybe it would be good to just focus for a bit on that simple message of the Good News. Jesus raised from the dead, defeating sin and death, and ushering in a new day of his presence in our lives.

Do you know that simple gospel for you? Can you say, with Paul, "this is my gospel?" If not, you can make it yours today. Have you been sitting on the fence about going all in with Jesus? Maybe today is the day you make the leap, push all your chips in, and say yes to Jesus being Lord of your life no matter what.
