Verse: 2 Timothy 2:1-2

You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

Devotion:
Has anyone ever taught you anything so helpful, that you just had to teach it to someone else? Or have you ever seen a movie or show that you loved so much, you found yourself recommending it to all your friends?

I read a book a couple years ago called "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" and it's all about slowing down to meet with Jesus on a consistent basis. It was profound for me. As someone who has regularly spent time with Jesus on a daily basis for decades, it was still a huge challenge for me. I found it very helpful. It encouraged me and strengthened me. (You should read it!) And so you know what I started doing? I started recommending it to everyone I know! I can not tell you how many times I've recommended it! I've literally bought it for people I wanted them to read it so badly!

In the same way, Paul is encouraging Timothy (and therefore us) to "entrust" to others the message about Jesus. Our faith isn't just for us. It's not just a private, personal thing. It is meant to help others. But how will it help others if we never share it?

A mistake people make is assuming that only leaders should do this. Can I just change that right now? You have something to share! What Jesus is doing in your life will be helpful for others!  What you are learning about God will encourage others.

Look for those opportunities to talk about what Jesus is doing in your life with your friends at church, at youth group, or in life. Don't be shy. What God has given to you, freely give away to others. You'll be surprised how powerful it is!
