Influencer?

Verse: 2 Corinthians 10:13

We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.

Thoughts
Paul uses a phrase here that I find really interesting. He talkes about a "sphere of service God himself has assigned" to them. He is referring to the people that God has called him to minister to in the church in Corinth. As we read the Bible for devotional purposes, I wonder if we can come to this passage with the question, "what sphere of service has God assigned to me?"

Or said another way, "who is in my sphere of service?" Think about this. We all have a sphere of service, or a "circle of influence", in our lives. We all have people whom we have the chance to influence, for better or for worse. No matter what age you are, this is true. It could be the person you sit next to in class. They are in your sphere of service. It could be the person you ride the bus with. It could be your teammate. It could be your friend group. It could be your siblings. It could be ALL of those people! Whoever you have a chance to influence, is your sphere of service.

So why has God put you in those people's lives? For what purpose? Does God have (to borrow Paul's language) and "assignment" for you in their lives? Are you supposed to be serving them in some way that will influence them towards Jesus?

Take a moment this morning to reflect on these questions. Think about the people in your sphere of service. Maybe even spend a little time praying for them. And ask the Lord to help you make a shift in your heart from just existing in your circle of influence, to being an influencer in the lives around you.

Prayer
I pray that you would give me courage to be a blessing and a influence in the lives of those in my life!
