Verse: Ps 26:4-5

I do not sit with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.

Thoughts
I read this today and it made me think: "I wonder if I'm under the influence of anyone, or anything, that isn't aligned with God's will."

This will be a quick devotional this morning, but use it as a chance to pause and think. Do you have any friends who are a bad influence on you? I know that's a hard question, but sit with it for a second. I'm not saying you can't have friends who aren't Christians. Not at all. But I am saying, don't fool yourself into thinking you aren't being influenced by all your friends, whether they are Christian or not.

Are any of your friends influencing to think in ways that don't align with the Bible? How we think about the world, our worldview, is hugely important. Are you getting your worldview predominantly from the Word or from others? How about actions? Do you have friends who are a positive influence on how you act, or a negative one? Or how about how you are treated? Do you have any friends who treat you poorly, abuse your friendship, or take you for granted?

It's always a fine line isn't it? Obviously we want to be friends with people of all kinds of beliefs and backgrounds. But we have to ask the Lord to give us wisdom. If we are being influenced away from Jesus, is it worth it? Ask God today to show you any place in your life where people are negatively influencing you and then ask him what you should do about it.

Prayer
I pray that you would help me to be honest with myself about any relationships that are hurting me or damaging my faith.
