Verse: 2 Corinthians 8:9
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
Thoughts
When I was 16 my family threw me a surprise birthday party. I was not expecting it at all. When you walk into a situation like that you think, "is this really all for me?" Have you ever had that experience? Maybe someone got you a really meaningful gift, or made you a really special meal - whatever it is - you take a step back and think, "wow, this is all for me?"
I feel like Jesus would say to you this morning, "this is all for you!" This verse says, "for your sake" he did these things. Out of his great love for YOU he became poor, leaving heaven, coming to earth, suffering, being beaten, dying, taking sin on his shoulders—all for your (and my!) sake. This is ALL FOR YOU!
Do you know this? Do you know how much God loves you today? Do you know that he has literally given everything to rescue you from darkness and bring you into his light? He paid the ultimate price in order to restore relationship with you.
As you pause today to read his word, take a moment to reflect on this great truth. He has done this ALL FOR YOU!
