be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Thoughts
This is a verse I think about a lot. This won't be a long devotion, because it speaks for itself. But today can you think about this verse? What would the day be like if all our words, and all our thoughts, were pleasing to God? How much better would our day go? How much more free would we be? How much more at peace would we be?
Of course, on one level, this is impossible. Since we are not made perfect yet, we can't have ALL our thoughts and words be pleasing to God. At the same time, however, we are in the process of being made like Jesus. We are in the process of becoming more like him. So our thoughts and words will be more and more pleasing to God.
Can we ask the Lord today to help us? Ask him to show us when our thoughts and words are NOT pleasing to him, so we can adjust. Ask him to encourage us and strengthen us. Our words and thoughts are powerful. They can change our mood in an instant. They can affect other people. And most of all they can bring glory to God! Let's ask the Lord to help us today, and make an effort—let's pay special attention today—and see how often our words and thoughts are pleasing to God!
