Psalm 15

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
    Who may live on your holy mountain?

2 The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
    who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
    will never be shaken.

Thoughts
This is a pretty long list isn't it? I love how challenging it is. As you read through Psalm 15, what stands out to you personally? Does anything convict you? Is the Holy Spirit highlighting anything for you that maybe you need to focus on?

As I read it the words "keeps an oath even when it hurts and does not change their mind" stuck out to me. In David's Psalm here, one of the characteristics of someone who is living in God's will is someone who keeps their word. How often are we (am I!) tempted to say we'll do something and then back out because when the time comes to fulfill that word we find something else we'd rather do?

Or how about "whose tongue utters no slander"? How often are we tempted to talk behind someone's back, or gossip, or even just participate when someone else is doing it? How often do we talk negatively about someone who isn't there, and then act normal when we see them?

Do any of these lines speak to you? I love how he ends it: "whoever does these things will never been shaken." In life if we are people who follow God's way, speak truth, don't slander, love our neighbor, fear the Lord, hate evil, keep our word, and are generous with the poor - we won't be shaken! It's basically: Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself isn't it?

Is there anywhere in your life where you feel God's conviction about how you are loving other people?

Prayer
Help me to love people like you love them God!
