And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Thoughts
These three attributes are pillars we can build our lives upon. It's different than what the world would teach us, that's for sure. I wonder what the world's top three would be: success, popularity, and wealth? Money, sex, and power? Greed, pleasure, and pride?
We live for a different King and in a different kingdom. The foundation of our lives is built on something eternal, not on stuff that will pass away. Instead of chasing after momentary pleasure, we are people of faith. Faith is more concerned with what makes an eternal difference, than with immediate gratification.
We are people of hope. Hope believes the best in others, doesn't get beat down, and sees the good. We aren't obsessed with getting ahead at the expense of others.
And we are people of love. A love that puts others first. A sacrificial love. We aren't looking to amass power and stuff, we are looking to treat others with love. We aren't concerned primarily with our own pleasure, but are asking "how can I serve others."
The invitation is to a deeper, more meaningful, more eternally focused life. Faith, hope, and love. How are they shaping you today?
