Verse: Psalm 119

11 - I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

32 - I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

35 - Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.

45 - I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

56 - This has been my practice, I obey your precepts.

Thoughts
These are just a few excerpts from Psalm 119. What I want you to notice is how David talk about God's law.  He doesn't see God's law as a burden or as something that gets in the way of him living his life. He doesn't disagree with God's law, or say that it's not "for today." He doesn't accuse God of having bad intentions because of his law.

No, quite the opposite.

David equates God's law with freedom! When he follows God's law, he is able to run in life. He finds delight in life when he follows God's law. His heart is set free by God's commands!

Personally I love the image of verse 32 - "I run in the path of your commands." I have also found this to be true. When I try to do life outside of God's commands, I trip and fall and end up hurting myself and others. But when I follow him, I can run in life. Think about that. There is such freedom to go where he's calling you, be who he has made you to be, find your purpose and fulfill his plans for your life.

Maybe God wants to encourage you this morning with this. Maybe it's been hard lately to really follow God's way in your life. Maybe it has felt like a burden. I think God wants to remind you that the best way to live life is with him. And even though it's hard sometimes, it is still the way to freedom and life. Don't give up!

Prayer
Help me to remember that your way is truly the way to life.
