Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33

31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.

Thoughts
I've had this question posed to me several times as a pastor: "Why does God care what we do in _____________________ area of our lives." Fill in the blank. Why does he care what we drink for instance? Or how much? Why does he care what we say? Why does he care what we do with our money? And so on.

What we are really asking is, "Can't I just do what I want in this area? A loving God would want me to be happy, and I define happiness as doing what I want."

The fact is, God cares...about it all. We might not like it, but he does! And he cares for at least two reasons: (1) First, because he  deeply loves us and wants what is truly best for our lives. We may not always agree, but he is always leading us to what he knows is best for us. And (2) second, because he cares about people who don't know him, and he knows that everything we do as Christians represents him to the watching world.

Paul knew this and this is why he said that "whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" because we are not seeking our "own good, but the good of many, so that they may be saved." God cares about all we do. For our sakes, and for the sake of others.

So then it asks us this deep and life changing question, "what are we doing that is not glorifying God?" Wow. We've all got stuff don't we? It takes humility and courage to let the Holy Spirit gently move in our lives to reveal to us the areas we are still living for ourselves and not for him. But that's all part of our lifelong journey of discipleship. Allowing him to change us, from the inside out.

Prayer
I pray this morning that as I seek to glorify you in all things, you would change me to be more and more like you.
