Verse: Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

Thoughts
As I was reading this passage this morning I just felt led to put the whole thing in here. I know that's not what I normally do. But it is all so good. I want you to read through these next 6 verses and see how many promises about God's character you can find. Remember, this is a poetic description of the character of God—so when it says stuff like "no harm will" come upon you it's poetic license. Obviously Jesus tells us that we will have trouble in this world. But read through this and think about God's heart for you.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

What I want you to take away from this is how much God cares for you. It's hard to imagine honestly. It would make more sense that the God of the universe would just create us and then move on to more important things. But no—he's intimately aware of what's happening in your life. He doesn't just care about all people, he cares specifically about you. He is watching over you. He is protecting you. He is near you.

Do you need to hear this today? You can take your troubles, your cares, your worries, and your fears to him today. He loves you and he is near to you. David looked to the mountains to see if any help was coming and realized all he needed was God. Maybe today you are wondering where your help will come from. Look to God. He is here for you.

Prayer
Thank you Jesus that you are always near and that you always care!
