Verse:Psalm 56:1-4, 13
Be merciful to me, my God,
for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
all day long they press their attack.
2 My adversaries pursue me all day long;
in their pride many are attacking me.
3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
13For you have delivered me from death
and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.
Thoughts
Are you having one of those days? Or weeks? Or months? Or.....YEARS?!!? Do you feel like people are just letting you down left and right? Or worse, are purposefully being mean to you? Do you feel like life has just been super difficult lately? Are things not going your way? Does it feel like disappointments and heartaches are piling up?
I've been there, trust me. And this Psalm is for you today. Because David has been there too. He's been hunted, betrayed, falsely accused, and ratted out. But this Psalm gives us hope in those times.
Even when everything is falling apart we can pray with David, "when I am afraid, I put my trust in you." This is the truth that David knew, that helps us. Even when everyone is against us, and even life seems to be against us, GOD IS FOR YOU. This is why in God he can put his praise and trust. "What can mere mortals do to me?" God's protection, his love and care, far surpass even the worst that man can do to us.
Hear that today: GOD IS FOR YOU. He loves you. He has your back. He is speaking good things over your life. He believes in you. He has plans for you. He is even interceding for you in heaven right now! And he has promised to never leave your side - to be with you at all times.
Today even with everything that seems to be going wrong, take a moment to remember how much he loves you. Take a moment to breathe, and focus on him. Listen to him saying he loves you. Allow him to minister to you this morning.
Prayer
Thank you that you never leave me or forsake me. You are so good to me. I need you to be near to me today!
