Peace in Charge

Verse: Colossians 3:15

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

Thoughts
Have you ever been in charge of anything? I've spent most of my adult life being in charge of stuff - mostly as a pastor. It's a weird phenomenon. For instance, when I join a converstion in a group of people at church or at a leadership function, as soon as I join the group, the conversation defers to me. It's so weird. I try to not be imposing. I try to even be quiet at times and see what happens. But most of the time, as soon as I join the group, they look to me for what we'll talk about, what I'll say, etc.

It's part of me being the leader - others tend to defer to me. Even if I'm not askin them to. And I wonder if we could learn a lesson from that experience when we read this verse. "Let the peace of God RULE." Rule is kind of a word we don't use very often, so how about we say, "Let the peace of God BE IN CHARGE."

What if in your thought life, you let the peace of God be in charge? Like people tend to defer to me, what if we made all our other thoughts defer to peace? What if our fears and worries had to shut up and listen when peace started talking? What if our insecurities and doubts had to take a back seat when peace showed up?

It's so easy to let so many other thoughts and feelings be in charge isn't it? But this is the encouragement today. Let peace rule. As you go through your day, I challenge you, filter your thoughts and emotions through PEACE. Don't just let your thoughts run rampant. Decide to let God's PEACE be in charge. Just for day. See what happens!

Prayer
I pray you would help me to put your peace first, and make all my other doubts and fears submit to it!
