Verse: Hebrews 10:36-39

36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” 38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” 39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

Thoughts
If you read the Bible often enough you run into this idea over and over again: perseverance. Literally the writer of Hebrews just comes right out and says it: "You need to persevere."

Life is hard. Am I right? Friends can be hard. School can be hard. Social media can be hard. The world can be hard. We face heartache, debates, arguments, unfriending, even loss and grief. Life is hard.

The answer from God in this passage is to persevere. In other words—DON'T GIVE UP.

Listen. If you are in a place right now where you feel like giving up, let these words speak to you. And notice what he offers: "you will receive what he has promised." What has he promised? "He who is coming." We persevere because we know we will get Jesus. Both now and in eternity.

You don't have to persevere just because. Or even in your own strength alone. When we persevere God joins us in that fight. He stands with us. Paul tells us when we are weak, Christ's power rests on us. And because of that he is able to say, "when I am weak, then I am strong." Not because he's amazing, but because God is. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

So don't give up today. Lean into Jesus. Reach out to others. And don't give up. We are all in this together and you are not alone.
