Verse: Galatians 5:2-6
2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Thoughts
How does your faith express itself?
Think about that. Faith is not static. It isn't just something that you have. It's something that you do. What does your faith look like?
James tells us in verse 2:18, "Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds." (emphasis mine).
So how does your faith express itself?
This verse says that the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. That is a beautiful message to meditate on this morning.
I love the picture of my faith overflowing into love for others. Serving others. Praying for others. Kindness for others. My faith transforms me, and it touches the lives of everyone I come into contact with. It changes the way I view other people, treat other people, and respond even in hard situations with other people.
Today, take a moment to pray about whether your faith is truly expressing itself through love to those around you.
Prayer
God, I pray that you would show me opportunities to see you working in and through me.
