From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Thoughts
I'm coaching a U13 girls team now. There is one girl who has a God-given talent for speed. She is FAST. I used to be her coach 3 years ago as well. And back then I told her and her parents, she just needs to really focus on foot skills, because if she can add that to her speed, she'll be very good. Fast forward three years, and I literally had the same conversation with her last practice. Nothing has changed.
This is what this verse reminds me of. God has given each of us talents, gifts, opportunities, friends, churches, etc etc. He has invested in you and me with heavenly resources that he hopes will overflow to touch the people around us. The question this verse asks is, "what are we doing with it?"
Like this girl who needs to add some effort to her talent.... we need to use what God has given us for his glory and kingdom.
It is far too easy to coast through life (and religion for that matter) without really becoming who God has called us to be.
So today, take a moment. Are you using what God has given you? Are you re-investing for the kingdom, what God has invested in you?
Prayer
I pray that I would use what you have given me for the glory of God, and the blessing of others.
