Verse: Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
Thoughts
Have you ever lost your keys? Maybe you don't drive yet. Have you ever lost the remote to your TV? Or the controller to your Xbox? Or - what about this - have you ever been in a game and your controller dies and you have to frantically search for batteries???
Yeah, we've all been there. We go ALL OUT to find what we need, don't we?
I get this same sense from this passage. If we want to know God's will, sometimes we have to really search for it. He compares it to searching for hidden treasure. If you knew there was 100 million dollars buried in a field, what would you do?
Right, I thought so.
This is the encouragement this morning. Do you feel stuck or confused? Do you feel unsure about a decision? Are you waiting on God to lead you? Don't give up! Keep asking him. Keep knocking. Keep praying. Keep listening. Keep talking to others who are wiser than you.
Sometimes it is relatively easy to know God's will. But often, it takes time, patience, and perseverance. So don't give up. He is giving you time to dig, to search, and to seek out his will. The searching is often the most important part. Once you get there, you'll see why.
So don't give up!

God I pray that you would help me to keep going, keep searching for your will in my life, and not to give up!
