Verse: 1 John 2:9-11

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

Thoughts
The other day I was talking to a friend about Jesus. He said that there are times when he wonders what God wants him to do, and so he turns to a simple verse in the Bible to help him refocus. This is a great verse for doing that.

This is simple, and powerful. If you ever wonder where to start as a follower of Jesus, or if you ever get frustrated with understanding God's call on yoru life - you can read this verse - "love others."

Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.

Simple right? But it's not easy is it? Sometimes people can be so hard to love. When they let us down, hurt us, or disappoint us. The gift of following Jesus is that his love transforms us and enables us to love others like he does.

So today, if you are needing some direction for how to follow Jesus, start here. Love others. Love well. Love with God's love. And you'll find direction comes to your life as you walk out the love of God for others.

Prayer
Help me to love like you do God. Teach me to love. Not like the world does, but like you do.
