Verse: Romans 8:28 (ESV)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Devotion:
This is a pretty popular verse, but do you believe it? Do you believe that God is working things for good in your life?
I think there can be some misunderstandings about this verse too. God gets to define "good," not us. So sometimes it can feel like he is not working for our good, simply because we don't understand his greater plan. We have a pretty limited view of what "good" should look like in our lives. Sometimes we define good as "easy." But easy isn't usually what God is going for. He's more interested in us growing in our faith, than he is in our lives being easy.
This is where trust comes in. Do we trust God? If we do, than no matter what is happening in our lives, we can know that God is going to use it in some way for good in our lives. Even when things seems to be going "the wrong way" we can trust that God will work all things for our good.
I find this to be super comforting and encouraging. Do you? What are you going through right now that you need to hear - "God is working through this in your life?"
